How Do You Find Joy?

Not sure why, but today started out to be one of those days where I felt frustrated and discouraged.  I don't know if it's because my schedule is out of whack with Scott home this week or if it is just the fact that fall is quickly folding into winter.  However I feel the need to share some simple joys that really hit me this evening.  They weren't big things, but my life is pretty simple:
  • Going for an oil change and getting right in without a wait (almost never happens so I was very pleasantly surprised)
  • Finding a channel that plays Christmas carols by Christian artists on my tv dish.  I've had it playing for the last couple of hours and really like it.
  • Listening to Christmas carols for the first time in this new season. I know for some of you, I may be rushing it, but next week is Thanksgiving, after all.
  • Talking to my sister on the phone about everything and really nothing at all.
  • A four year old boy hardly able to get out the words that Dad just asked him to help with something in the new addition so he gets to give Dad a hand. (Way to go Dad, too)
  • Making a homemade soup on a cold, windy day.  Today was a new recipe: ham and sweet potato.  I've included a picture.  I'm really on a soup kick right now.  I made taco soup two weeks ago, homemade chicken noodle soup last Sunday, this one tonight, and am planning chili for this weekend.  I've even found a beef and barley one and a minestrone that I want to try.  I warned Scott tonight that he better just get used to it cuz I seem to go through phases in cooking and this is my new one.  If you have any good recipes, email them to me!
