Caleb is Here!

This is Amy, Jen's sister.  I've high-jacked her blog because I took about 100 pictures of baby Caleb while I was visiting the family over Christmas.   Since Jen has her hands full right now, I told her I would post some pictures to keep her public satisfied.  =)

Shelby has had a bit of an adjustment with a new baby in the house but is now very loving with Caleb.  She just has to be reminded to be "gentle" with her loving.

Countdown to Baby

I really haven't talked much about my pregnancy but as of today, I am 38 weeks along. People tell me I am not looking it, but trust me, I am feeling it. I'm not complaining because I know what a blessing it is to carry this baby after we thought we would not have any more biologically, but there comes a point where you just can't do things you normally do just fine, like bending over, getting up off the couch, climbing a flight of stairs without totally losing your breath, or walking without feeling like a duck waddling. It has been a pretty good pregnancy, and I'm so thankful I got to do it one more time.

Due to my clotting issues, meds, and higher risks, my doctor has decided to induce me one week from today. So barring any crazy complications, our son will be born next Thursday, Dec. 6.  In some ways it is nice to know in advance to have all the details worked out for Hunter and Shelby.

Keep us in your prayers next week that everything goes smoothly for delivery.  I would also appreciate prayer for the kids adjustment, especially Shelby, who I think is going to have a really hard time. Just a hunch!

Great Expectations!

God surely does have a wonderful sense of humor, and yes, this picture does mean what you are thinking we might be saying.  We are announcing that we are expecting our 3rd child in early to mid December. In a few days I will begin the final week of my fourth month of pregnancy.  After years of trying and two losses, we were quite shocked to find that this was in God's plan for us.  My doctor is having me follow a daily Lovenox injection regimen, and it seems to be working.  Our shock and fears have slowly turned to hope and joy. God is certainly up to something, and it is all for His glory because we have done everything in the book "wrong".  We finally sold the last of our "baby stuff" (with the exception of our carseat/stroller combo which I couldn't put in my resale) about a month before we discovered we were pregnant, and I did a number of "no-no"s as far as pregnancy is concerned including helping Shelby through an x-ray.  So when I saw that steady little heartbeat blippin' on that "jellybean" in an early ultrasound, I started crying and giving God all the praise because His ways are higher than ours, that's for sure.

More than anything we ask for your prayers.  We just want this whole pregnancy bathed in prayer.  Pray for health for the baby, wisdom for the doctors, and peace of mind for Scott and I that we will be able to daily put aside our fears and cautiousness and just enjoy this special time in our lives. We know that nothing in life is a sure thing, but we are hopeful that God is working a miracle for us.
