Scott's Early Christmas

Well, the first part of this week brought an interesting turn of events. Scott's car started acting up again with the onset of cold weather. He had a Ford Taurus which we purchased only two years ago. However it seems that every winter since we've had it, we have had to pump money into it for various problems. We had a sneaky suspicion from the start that it was a bit of a lemon, but you know how it goes. Every time you fix something you figure that now it will run great for years. Again this winter the heat refused to get hot and it started to have times when it would not want to start. As of Monday, when Scott sat outside his work for an extra 30 minutes trying everything he could think of to get it to start, he had had enough, and the mad rush was on to find something new, well at least different. Thank the Lord for the internet because it saved us hours of braving windy, snowy cold weather browsing car lots. Scott found a couple of cars online that he was interested in, we called the dealerships to make sure they still had them, and then we went and test drove them. We ended up buying this sporty little Chevy Cobalt from Concord Cars, and yes, I'm actually giving them some free advertising because it was the most low-key, unstressful car-buying experience we have ever had. My only concern is that we went smaller than what we had before and since we are trying to get our family to grow I didn't think that was the best choice. However since that seems to be taking awhile, Scott felt he could use the better gas mileage now and we would cross that bridge when we got to it. The funny thing is that the day after we purchased this car, I talked to my sister who was possibly trading in her little Focus (almost the same car, just different makers) for a minivan because their family is beginning to need something bigger. I found it humorous. Anyway, this car looks much more like my husband than the taurus ever did, and it's fun. It really zips. Hopefully my next post won't be about getting a speeding ticket in my husband's new car.
