Big Boy Bike

Today the training wheels came for the toddler bike we found out in the back part of the machine shed called "the chicken coop" by the family. The bike had once belonged to cousin Tate who is now in high school. Hunter was very excited about finding a big boy bike, so I purchased some training wheels on ebay for it. About two weeks ago, Hunter got to try riding a bike like this at his friend Paige's birthday party. Although quite uncoordinated, he really enjoyed himself. It didn't take him long today to get the hang of it. Of course getting started by himself and turning corners presented the two biggest obstacles. Plus it is still just slightly too tall for him. I think it will be a great toy for next summer, but I'm sure he'll keep practicing at it this fall as well. Scott spent the day on Monday(after H's ear surgery) cleaning out the machine shed, so there is a nice big open cement floor for him to ride on. He also likes riding on the sidewalk. He starts at one end, rides the complete L shape, breaks to stop, turns and goes back the other way. The funny part for me was when after riding for about 20 minutes he announces that he is ready to ride his bike to Janetta's house which is over 2 miles away (but I'm sure seems very close by car). We also rode there on a family bike ride one time this summer. I just find it comical how he is ready to hit the road with all his expertise. Oh to have the confidence of a 3 year old at 33 about big life issues!!!
