Last week, we traveled with Scott's whole family up to Big Mackenzie Lake in Wisconsin. We had rented two cabins at Tall Timbers Resort for a week of fishing and fun. Now don't be fooled by the word resort. I think anyplace with 2 0r 3 cabins and a dock is called a resort in northern Wisconsin. It was definitely a little rustic, but clean and nice. However we had no a/c, tv, telephone, or internet. We had our cell phones, but usually only Scott and I got great reception. You'll have to email me if you want to know which company cuz I'm not giving any free advertisement. We all caught lots of fish. Hunter learned to tell big fish stories. We saw a deer and a black bear up close (but not together, ha, ha) as well as loons and bald eagles. Hunter learned what a leech was when one attached to his foot and we ate s'mores made with townhouse because we forgot the graham crackers but remembered the marshmallows and chocolate. It was a memory-making trip all around and here are some pics in no specific order:
Hunter really loved being out in the boat. The stairs from our cabin down to the lake; approximately 60 (ugh)
Our cabin which we shared with Scott's parents and brother; we also did the majority of the cooking and eating here for all twelve of us. It was quite snug!
Grandpa's big bass, caught on the last time out fishing.
Trying to feed 'Sweet Pea' the deer; the manager can get her to eat out of his hand but he probably can keep from wiggling just a little bit longer than this guy. The corn on the ground is also what the bear came out to eat the evening we saw it (along with select trash cans apparently).
Mommy pulled in the big Pike on the left with a worm and a bobber just a few minutes after Grandpa caught the one on the right with a big fancy Pike lure. I actually thought I had snagged the anchor until my line suddenly moved and the fish jumped out of the water. It gave Grandpa and I a funny fish story to bond over; plus, I helped him fillet our catch that afternoon too.
One of Hunter's big bluegills that he pulled in. One day he literally had a fish on as soon as we got it in the water every time. He thought that day was the best cuz most of them were "keepers and not little dinkers". His favorite question, "Why do the dinkers want to bite my worm every time?" This was asked every time he pulled in any small fish which was very often.
