This is my Christmas cactus. Why is it blooming in February? I have no idea. Maybe all the snow and cold days have gotten it all confused. I know they are really starting to bum me out. At least I got some beautiful flowers for Valentine's Day from my cactus (Don't booo Scott...he brought me chocolates this year.)

This is a new cake recipe I wanted to try. It's a red velvet cake with cherry pie filling and whip cream in the middles and on top. I made it in heart shaped pans and it turned out so pretty, I thought. February 13th is Scott's parents' anniversary, and since they were leaving for Florida that day, the whole family got together last Thursday to celebrate and spend time together. Scott's Mom is so good at sending out cards covered with stamps and stickers for everything: birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, you name it. Cards are not really my thing, but I do love baking and cake decorating. So I told them this was their anniversary card from Scott and I. The rest of the family thought it was pretty nice too.

Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa Schaetzle!!! I forgot to ask how many years they have been married but I think it's around 44 years. How fantastic is that?! You just don't hear of that so much anymore (sadly). Scott and I are so blessed to both have parents that have God at the center of their marriage and have worked hard to stay committed to loving each other through it all because, let's face it, marriage is some of the hardest work you have to do in life. It can also be some the most rewarding. We have great examples to follow!
