I saw a tool box being carried out to the laundry room by a certain 3 year old the other evening. I was in the living room, but after a couple of minutes, my curiosity drove me out to see what was going on. Luckily the camera was close by. Thankfully he was not charging by the hour because this job kept him occupied for quite a while. I also love the fact that he wears his goggles upside down.
Scott and I completed our first adoption class last Saturday. Since we are adopting from a "Hague" country, we are required to complete 35 hours of classes before we can get a child. This kind of makes me laugh because any teenager off the street can give birth and become a mother yet we, who already have a healthy, happy child, must take classes for another country to place a child with us. I know it's all in the best interest of the child though, and from my years in public education, I have often thought it would be a good idea for our government to require people to taking parenting classes before they were allowed to have children. Anyway there's some soap for you from my personal soapbox. The class was very good because it dealt with issues that are unique for adopting and really made us think about and discuss some things that need to be thought through. It was also good to meet our program director, Vickie, who has been helping us through this process for months. We also got to read our whole dossier that is ready to leave any day for the Philippines. I think we look pretty good on paper; hopefully they will think so too. We met some other couples from around our area that will be adopting as well, some from the Philippines, some from other countries like Haiti and China. We will take our next class in February, and we are looking forward to it.
