First Movie
Friday night, we took Hunter to his first movie at a theater. We chose a theater in a small town for better price (in case we needed to cut out early) and possibly more kid-friendliness. We saw TOY STORY in 3-D. It was also my first movie in 3D, so I thought it was cool too. Of course, I forgot to grab the camera on the way out the door to snap a picture, but we still had a good time. Hunter had never seen this movie before since we don't own it, but he recognized Woody and Buzz from his nighttime pull-ups so that grabbed his interest. We sat down, put our glasses on, and the movie started. Within 2 seconds Scott and I heard a little awestruck "WOW" from the seat in between us. The movie actually held his attention pretty well, which for those of you who know him is quite tough to do since he is a 3 year old, on-the-move kind of boy. He got kind of bored during the whole 'Sid's got me and I really am just a toy revelation' and ensuing depression of Buzz Lightyear, but the popcorn and sharing "Mom's special kind of drink"(raspberry ice tea) really helped. (Probably also why we both have the sniffles starting in today and Dad doesn't. Oh, well!) Then he really got back into it when Andy's family leaves with the moving truck and Woody and Buzz (the toys) have to catch him. As a matter of fact, when they are riding the little car racing to catch the moving truck, Hunter was on the edge of his seat. With his arms motioning, he says in quite a loud voice, "Get the truck! Come on, guys, you can do it!" Luckily for us, the movie was really loud at that point and other children were making some noise too. Scott and I just busted up. Hunter always feels so openly and definitely always says what he is thinking. Later, as we were getting into the car, he said,"Mom, can I go to that boy's house sometime to play? He has really cool toys!" Oh, the literal mind of a three year old sometimes cracks me up, yet it is also a good reminder of what a big job it is to be a parent. He is so innocent and sweet, and we can help preserve that or let it be taken away too soon. It's not a job I can do well on my own. Thank the Lord for his goodness and strength!
