About two weeks ago, Scott decided to set up his new deer hunting tent to let it air out (I guess deer have a very sensitive sense of smell). Our own little Hunter thought it was fantastic and begged Daddy to let him sleep in it. The first night we just took in a pillow, blanket, and a couple of favorite "buddies" (stuffed animals). I thought that sleeping on the floor, in a strange room would not last more than one night. However as the nights went on more and more comforts got pulled into the tent until, as you can see, he even put his John Deere welcome mat rug in front of the tent and the mattress from his bed inside the tent. This week we had to break the news to him that Dad needed to move the tent out to the woods because hunting season starts in a couple of weeks. Amid tears and many questions like "Can I get my own tent for my birthday?" we hauled everything back into Hunter's room. It also helped when I showed him that I had taken pictures. For some reason, having a picture of something already helps him let it go. That and the promise that on the next sunny day we can walk out and find where dad hid it in the woods. The whole situation was humorous, yet left me a little nervous about Christmas knowing that Grandma N. has found Hunter his own tent. Will it be months or years that he HAS to sleep in it? Maybe we'll just dismantle his bed altogether...only time will tell!
