Camping Out

When Scott and I got home from our trip, we wanted to do something fun with Hunter, so we set up our tent way out in the back yard by our campfire area. Scott and I have never done this by ourselves but Hunter was excited to try it. Of course he needed "his guys" which means we had to haul out blanky, giraffes, pooh bear, and hippo. However the luxury of camping in the backyard is that you can do that. Scott and I thought Hunter might fall asleep easier watching a video (and not worrying about it getting dark) so we set up the laptop and watched "Daddy Daycare"(or the movie with the naughty kids, as Hunter later told Grandma). After eating the popcorn, watching the campfire out the tent window, watching two-thirds of the video, Hunter was still wide awake at 10:20pm. So much for all of our great ideas. We shut everything down and all laid down together. After one minute of laying there in the dark, Hunter said, "I'm ready to go inside and sleep in my bed now." However we didn't give in, just told him that he was safe with Mom and Dad sleeping right there. I don't think it was even two minutes later that I heard him snoring. I looked at Scott and said, "That was easy and fast!" It was a fun family time, even though it took Mom and Dad the next two days to get over the sore hip bones and backs from sleeping on the hard ground. I guess that's what happens when you get old!

Nice fire...Scott even cooked us steak over it the next day for lunch.

Roughing it!

"Cheese!" I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself!
